Boards and Commissions
Planning & Zoning Commission The Planning and Zoning Commission was established to promote pubic health, safety, or general welfare and to protect and preserve places and areas of historical, cultural or architectural importance and significance. This commission makes recommendations to the City Council on issues of zoning, platting, land use, thoroughfares and other related matters. The Planning and Zoning Commission meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at City Hall at 7 p.m. Board of Adjustment The board of Adjustment was established and given authority to make exceptions to the terms of the zoning ordinances in the City of Sachse in harmony with zoning’s general purpose and rules. The board grants variances to the zoning ordinances in the best interest of the general public. The Board of Adjustment meets on the third Thursday of each month when there is a case to be heard. The meetings are conducted at City Hall at 7:30 p.m. Parks & Recreation Commission The Parks and Recreation Commission was established to act as an advisory board to the City Council in all matters pertaining to parks and recreation in the City of Sachse. This commission studies the park and recreation system of the city and advises council on issues pertaining to present and future maintenance, operation, planning, acquisition, development, enlargement and use policies of the city park system. The Parks and Recreation commission meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at City Hall. Library Board The Library Board was established to act as an advisory board to the city Council in matters concerning the establishment and use of the city library, the manner in which the library service may be coordinated with matters. This board meets quarterly on the second Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the Sachse Library. The City Council encourages the participation of all Sachse citizens to serve on boards, commissions and other committees appointed each year.
