Trash and Recycling
Garbage collection is once a week for all residential and businesses. On your scheduled pick up day, just roll your cart to your designated collection spot (alley or curb ) by am. (you may set your cart out the night before if you wish.) The cart is mechanically emptied from inside BFI’s vehicle cab using an automated arm that clamps on to the cart and lifts it to the garbage truck. All trash must fit inside your cart, if you determine that you need more than one cart, call the Utility Department at (972) 495-1212. Recycling Pick-up Recycling pick-up for all residential customers is once a week on the Monday or Tuesday. Materials are picked up at curbside and must be out by 7 a.m. *MORE RECYCLING TIPS* Place newspapers in brown paper bags on top of blue bin. All other items DO NOT have to be sorted. Plastics, glass broken down cardboard boxes and aluminum cans. No oil bottles or cigarette packages are accepted. Please rinse all cans and bottles. Bulk Item Pick-up Bulk item pick-up is during the second week of each month. All items need to be placed curbside by 7 a.m. on Monday of the week. Furniture, appliances, brush, (4’-5’ lengths) and other large items will be picked up. No tires, batteries, paint or hazardous materials will be picked up. Items with freon must be drained of all freon and tagged clear by a licensed A/S Co. For more information on freon items, please contact Utility Department at 972-459-1212. Christmas Tree Disposal Program This program is held for two weeks immediately following Christmas. Christmas trees, free of decorations, may be taken to Salmon Park on Williford Road for disposal. BFI Waste Systems will chip trees for use as landscaping materials. Utility Services Water and Sewer A $50 deposit is required on all new services. Deposit is credited to your account after one year if no late fees have been assessed. A 24-hour notice is required for new services and disconnections. All payments are due by 15th of month. After the 15th, a 5% penalty, after the 26th, customer may be disconnected and a $30 fee is assessed. For connection services contact Utility Billing at 972-495-1212. |
